Chikara Cambodia works in Prasat Bakong, an area in the Cambodian province of Siem Reap. Prasat Bakong is one of the poorest areas in Cambodia. This means that the communities are vulnerable to the many environmental challenges they face. The schools have little money and can thus benefit from our soap and recycled learning materials.
On average, our Board members Carina and Giel go to Cambodia twice a year. They then work together with the Chikara students, consult the local partners, visit the schools where the students give environmental workshops, and do countless other activities that are needed. Between their visits they are in contact with the Chikara students and the local partners online.
If you donate money to Chikara Cambodia, you can choose what you want it spent on. If you choose ‘study fund’, the money is spent on the courses and the coaching of our students. If you choose ‘environmental project’, the money is spent on the Soap in return for plastic waste project. 100% of your money goes to the activity that you choose. The Board members cover all their costs themselves.
Our office is in The Hague in the Netherlands. We do not have an office in Cambodia. But from spring 2024 we have a building where our students and Board members can work and receive visitors. The building is on the outskirts of Siem Reap on the grounds of our partners Eco-Soap Bank (ESB) and Trailblazer Cambodia Organization (TCO).
